What do Miley, Beyonce, Eminem and David Bowie have in common?
I read an article today from cbc.ca that compared two of pop music's celebrity alter egos - the legendary rock star alien Ziggy Stardust (by quirky David Bowie) and the wholesome Hannah Montanna (played by real-life "singer", Miley Cyrus).Plenty of stars have tried Bowie's 37 year old strategy, and most have failed miserably. May I remind you of Mariah Carey's empancipation of Mimi, or when Christina Aguilera went dirrty as Xtina, and the Shady side of Eminem. I really like the whole alter ego thing to tell you the truth. It gives an artist dimension - and in pop music you need something eccentric to make good entertainment. Stage performance is everything.. and what better than an alter ego to bring that out in a star? LOVE IT.
Thank you CBC for the picture!
Creepy MJ Portrait

Apparently, Jackson named his Neverland Valley Ranch after the fantasy land in J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan. Over the years, Jackson added such outrageous amenities like an amusement park, an arcade room and a zoo! Thank you CBC News for this hilarious oil on canvas portrait of MJ as a prince. Word is that MJ plans to do a a couple of concerts around London in July. He says it's his last in the British capital everrrr.

Rich Girls Always Win
In the 600th issue of Archie Comics, Archie Andrews finally picks his lady after almost 70 years of debate. On May 15th, the comic's website announced that Archie would be getting engaged. Word got out today via New York Post that he chooses Veronica in the issue titled "The Proposal: Part 1 of 6". The Archie gals posted about the engagement via blogs on the comic's website. On Wednesday Veronica wrote on her blog:
"I am so excited, I am getting Married to Archie. There is so much to do, so many plans to make. I wonder if Betty wants to be my Maid of Honor? I bet she is so happy for me!(((Hugs))) Ronnie"
In reponse, Betty's blog, titled "The saddest girl in the world" simply states:
"I am so sad, I don't even know what to say. Xoxoxoxo Bets"
To tell you the truth, I'm not really in shock. Archie constantly ditched Betty for Ron; her evil ways always won him over. And let's not forget about Cheryl Blossom. When the "Love Showdown" issue came out - which by the way I still am mad about never reading - I totally called that she was going to be the obvious opt-out. Remember that the cover can be deceiving, it's only the first of six issues and anything can happen! What I think would work is a storyline between one of the girls and Jughead. How much more interesting would that be? Just saying.
Weird."In the story, Archie has finally graduated from Riverdale High School; in fact, he’s five years older and a college graduate. He may even have — gasp! — an actual job when he gets engaged."

Hulk Hogan - I mean Brooke - releases an album
Ga-Gag Stones Cover
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse - Lady Ga-Ga poses as Dee Snider for Rolling Stone Magazine. But honestly, is the resemblance not unbelievably apparent? In her interview with the mag she spoke about becoming famous and being bisexual:"Lady Gaga's devotion to being a star drove her to order bags of cocaine andAs if a nose job wasn't good enough, now she is going Loco-Lohan and pulling out the bisexual card.
spend hours perfecting her hair and makeup in a tiny Lower East Side
apartment after she dropped out of NYU several years ago -- well before she
was actually famous. 'It was quite sick,' she admits. 'I suppose that's
where the vanity of the album came from.' She tells Hiatt she's bisexual, but her attraction to women is purely physical. It's an aspect of her sexuality that makes boyfriends 'uncomfortable,' she says."

This 7th Heaven star doesn't have the voice of an angel
So apparently someone was silly enough to give Jessica Biel a chance at singing for her new movie Easy Virtue. I really wonder how embarrassed JT must be at this point. And to think - she was just cast for a production of the musical Guys and Dolls. Hell, maybe Lady Ga-Ga will land a role too.

Bogus Blink? I'm on the fence
Blink 182 performed on the show last night. Check out their performances below.
I would have to agree with my friend when she says that Tom DeLonge is a bit disappointing in the first clip of All the Small Things. His voice has matured, and he seems to have picked up a different style from his alternative band Angels & Airwaves. Either way, I think that Tom rocked the riffs we sang in middle school - not to mention Travis and Mark were off the wall.
Verdict: Blink is back and sure they sound a bit different; but they are still playing our favorites which is exactly what we want from them. Therefore, I think Blink is bitchin'.
Now reunited after 5 long years, the boys kick of a national tour starting on September 16th in San Diego.

CEMF Lineup Announced!!

I have seen MixMaster Mike and Andy C a few times now, but I still can't wait to watch them spin again. I am especially excited for Andy because I was [unbelievably] sleeping through half of his set at WEMF last year. A little birdie told me last year Marcus Visionary played some amazing DNB, and I've heard nothing but good things about Thunderheist too. I am so excited for this!! Now I have at least four music festivals under my belt this summer!!
Frightening Fashion Faux-Pas: TREY TACKLING TRENDS
I happened to stumbled upon this picture of Trey Philips from Laguna Beach. We all remember Trey for his wacky eccentric trucker hats that the Laguna gang would model at his fashion shows. Trucker hats are soo early 2000s its crazy.. and we can thank Ashton Kutcher for that. Pretty much I find this picture funny for two reasons:- He's still wearing the trucker hat and collared shirt combo - collar popped
- He is actually trying to pull off a belt as a super trendy sash
So I decided to check up on Trey the trucker hat activist only to find a MySpace site dedicated to his political group Active Young America. Hey - he's still popular enough to get his picture taken, right? You don't see a post about Talan on my blog, do you? - Mind you, I'm pretty sure he is still dating Nicole Scherzinger from PCD; which says a lot more than Trey's post-Laguna buzzworthiness!

My 62nd Annual Cannes Picks
Today is the sixth day of this year's festival and the south of France is booming with stars out and about along the French Riviera. Some interesting movies have been nominated this year, a few in particular that seem to have caught my attention.Lars von Trier seems to be the most talked about Director this year for his film Antichrist; which is nominated for the Golden Palm award. It stars Willem Dafoe (the Green Goblin from Spiderman) and Charlotte Gainsbourg (who had a small part in 21 Grams); posing above with von Trier at the Cannes photocall.
The film is about a grieving couple who retreat to their cabin in the woods, hoping to repair their marriage after suffering the loss of their only child. The film itself is said to be quite gruesome, involving extremely graphic and disturbing images.
Roger Ebert says von Trier's film goes beyond malevolence and into the monstrous:
"It is an audacious spit in the eye of society. It says we harbor an undreamed-of
capacity for evil. It transforms a psychological treatment into torture
undreamed of in the dungeons of history. Torturers might have been capable of
such actions, but they would have lacked the imagination. Von Trier is not so
much making a film about violence as making a film to inflict violence upon us,
perhaps as a salutary experience."
Here's what von Trier had to say about the film on the festival's website:
"Two years ago, I suffered from a depression. It was a new experience for me. Everything, no matter what, seemed unimportant, trivial. I couldn't work. Six months later, just as an exercise, I wrote a script… The work on the script did not follow my usual modus operandi. Scenes were added for no reason. Images were composed free of logic or dramatic thinking. They often came from dreams I was having at the time, or dreams I’d had earlier in my life. Once again the subject was “Nature”, but in a different and more direct way than before. In a more personal way… In any case, I can offer no excuse for Antichrist. Other than my absolute belief in the film – the most important film of my entire career!"
Another official selection that I can't wait to see is Taking Woodstock by Ang Lee. The story is set in 1969, about a homosexual interior designer who moves home to help his parents fix up their suffering motel in White Lake, New York. When a neighbouring town pulls the permit on a hippie music festival, he decides to hold the show to get some business for the motel. Turns out that half a million people show up for the generation-defining experience that changed pop culture forever. Lee focuses on Elliot's story rather than trying to recreate the epic performances. My father went to Woodstock, and I've been living vicariously through him ever since I could. I'm thinking I'll bring him along to see this one - I can't wait!!
More LoCon News.. because you secretly love it too

So we know that LoCon is leaving The Hills next season, but what some of you may not know is that it's because she wants to dedicate her time towards other projects - like writing teen novels. Her first book is called L.A. Candy - a story about a young girl who moves to Hollywood in hopes of getting a career in fashion. Coincidentally enough - homegirl lands a spot on a reality television show.
Wow. It's like nothing I've ever heard of before.
When asked about her debut fiction series, Lauren Conrad told Teen Vogue:
"Some of the characters may symbolize people in my life, but it is in no way calling anyone out."
You can read the excerpt for yourself HEREAs for other Hills news, we found out in March that Audrina Patridge will be getting her own reality spin-off show following the upcoming fifth season. Hollywood.com reports:
"...the proposed new series will follow Patridge in her personal and professional life"Reality television producer, Mark Burnett says:
"We are truly pleased to have the chance to work with Audrina. She has already proved her star quality, and we can't wait to show her fans worldwide the next stage of her life and career."Audrina seems pretty excited about the show herself:
"I finally get my own show!" It will air right after ‘The Hills’ and right before ‘Real World Death Match.’ My character just had a boob job so that will be one of the plot lines. And Justin Bobby of course comes back to try to see me again. I don’t know what happens there, but I do know that LC only gets one camera crew and now I have two!"MTV has a lot going on next fall - Kristin Cavallari heating up The Hills AND a whole show dedicated to Audrina Patridge's boobs and googly eyes! But what about Spencer and Heidi? That's right - they are going to be on NBC's "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!" - Which deserves a seperate post all to itself

Kristin stole Stephen - and now The Hills too

And just when I thought I was over The Hills, MTV goes ahead and announces that Kristin Cavallari will be joining the cast next season. I don't know what to be happier about - not having to hear Lauren Conrad bitch anymore, or seeing Kristin stir up whatever's left of Conrad's pathetic on-screen life.
To kick off her arrival, Cavallari convienantly caught the bouquet at Heidi and Spencer's wedding last week - which we will be able to see during the finale on May 31st. The new season will still have all our old favorites, minus LoCon. Cavallari will appear in a total of ten episodes this fall.
In an interview with EW.com she said:
“It’s a TV show... I’m not going into it like, ‘I’m going to make great friendships with these people.’ It’s work! And drama sells. I think that’s why they’re bringing me in, because I know what works.”

This isn't the first time Kristin is stealing Lauren's spotlight. Cavallari took over Laguna Beach after Conrad's graduation, and has dated two of LC's boyfriends: Stephen Colletti and Brody Jenner.
ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS: Will Jessica make an appearance? Jessica? Jessica!
On another note...
Did you know that Kristin is responsible for hooking up Heidi with Spencer?
This girl has GOT to be LC's worst nightmare.
“It’s so funny. I guess it was 4 years ago. I was dating Brody [Jenner] and Spencer was Brody’s best friend. I had known Heidi when she was friends with Lauren when we were still filming Laguna Beach. Heidi was like, ‘Hook me up with someone. I wanna meet a guy.’ And Brody and I were kinda like, ‘Well, maybe Spencer?’ We’ll see what happens.’ So we all went on a double date and they just hit it off right away and now they’re married.”Check out the E! Ashley is the new Mary-Kate

No, that's not Christina Aguilera circa 2005 - but it is indeed the less famined of twins, Ashley Olsen. These shots are from the Summer issue of V Man Magazine that hit newsstands before the weekend. Ashley talked about her new mens collection for her line The Row. The former face of Full House opened up to Marc Jacobs about her love for fashion and staying out of the limelight.
“When I turned 18, I moved to New York, and I haven’t really done anything to be a celebrity. I’ve been transitioning from acting as a kid to doing something that I’m choosing for myself — to be a part of the fashion industry.”
Okay, but what's with the creepy mannequin picture? That's all I'm saying.

Frightening Fashion Faux-Pas: FRINGE
Leave it to Loco-Boho-Loho to walk out of the house wearing this. By the looks of it she is covering her face because someone told her that she isn't Stevie Nicks. She is currently attempting to piece together what's left of her acting career by staring along side my favorite anger-charged Canadian, Alanis Morissette. No matter what I'll always feel like Lohan is the kind of girl who peaked in high school. It's hard to believe that I like vintage threads with such disgust for fringe. But personally, fringe can't help but make me cringe. Vests, motorcycle jackets, my 92 year old great aunt's over the shoulder bags, chaps -- I directly associate these items to fringe. Although, my friend recently bought a pair of pumps that sport a suprisingly suitable array of fringe. Dispite my usual disgust, I thought they were pretty cute!

These are a pair that look almost identical to the ones she just snagged at Le Chateau.

Coldplay is currently offering their fans a free download of their new live album LeftRightLeftRightLeft. Chris and the boys make their way to Toronto at the end of July and I look forward to their show on the 30th at Rogers Centre. They'll be at the Amphitheatre the night before. I wonder if Apple will make an appearance?

I feel like a twat when I'm tweeting with twitter

I finally joined Twitter.
Lately I've been on a social networking rampage and making my superficial mark all over the internet. I like to think I have evolved over my e-years and have finally got it right. My Meet Me in T.O. days filled with chat forums on all ages club nights to the days spent on MySpace; back when I thought pictures of me standing in front of a mirror was cool. Networking sites are so different now. The days of restricting the number of picture uploads and asking other members their a/s/l have come and gone along with the 90s fashion we wore while on them. These new sites are dynamic and engaging. Oh the internet as public domain - I am really excited to see what all this leads to.
Currently I am following a number of people - 13 to be exact. Which is pretty impressive considering that I only joined yesterday. I found some people I knew among the enormous amount of active members. I also found some celebrities that I have been most interested in following on twitter. I love that most about the site - celebrities are actually engaged in these postings. They post pictures and talk to other celebs.. it's basically Hollywood. I'm following Ashton Kutcher religiously now ever since I heard that he challenged CNN to see who could get the most followers and won. Plus, he is a total BABE.
Twitter is so much more intricate than I could have ever imagined. This weekend is dedicated to familiarizing myself with tweeting tactics, but for now I'm off to drive around in my new car.
I said it - new car. Well, used-new car but MY new car nonetheless.
