Miley tells us why she deleted Twitter

Playboy Goes Hentai

Believe it or not, Marge Simpson has been revealed as the November cover girl for Playboy magazine. The issue, hitting stands on October 16, features a three-page photo spread and interview with the blue haired babe. The magazine says that the pictures are "implied nuditity" and take a stab at readership, in attempt to attract a younger audience.

The cover is a rendition of the 1971 cover of Darine Stern by photographer Richard Fegley. Stern was the first black model to grace the cover of Playboy and the cover has become a classic for the mag.

Now that I look at it, I've realized that not only does Marge Simpson have an afro, but she also rocks a ti-hop fade!! Unbelievable.

In my opinion, I think that they could have a least showed Marge with big, luxourious Victoria Secret model hair. Or the way it's shown when Homer and her first started dating.

Another thing that I noticed, is that her infamous blue fro seems rather phallic. If it was my decision, I would go with Jessica Rabbit for the first cartoon character to grace the covers of Playboy. Have they ever had a red head on the cover? I'll look into it.

In the mean time, think about what the world is coming to. And what kind of influence this will have on Lisa and Maggie. But seriously, let's not confuse Playboy with Hentai and integrated this whole Anime aspect into it all. Either way, I'm buying the issue. Ah, the effects of marketing.

Lookin good Margie!!

A BSB with Swine Flu?! NOOOOOOO!!

Yep, it's official. Brian Littrell told BSB fans around the globe that he has the H1N1 virus.. the good ole Swine Flu. I bet you thought we were all safe? And then this perfect specimen, the alpha male to say the least, winds up getting the Swine. I don't know what I'll do if I lose a Backstreet Boy this soon...
and now with the new album this really puts a hold on their tour. Bummer.

Oh wait, it's NOT 1998 anymore.

Freightening Fashion Faux-Pas: The Hedged Hairdo

I found this picture of Rihanna at the Balmain show on Saturday (left), during her front-row tour of Paris Fashion Week. Aside from her power shoulders, I couldn't help but notice a rendition of the classic '90s hip hop hairstyle: the hi-top fade.

The last time I saw someone rockin' the hi-top was in 1990, when Kid 'N' Play stared in the movie House Party!! Christopher Reid aka Kid at one point had the tallest hi-top in history!

Moral of the story... Rihanna is totally bringing it back.

Here's to you, Kid!
Literally.

Tyra Banks: Why models are paid to WALK and not TALK

I can always go for a good Tyra bit.. because she makes it so damn easy. Last night Tyra Banks took a seat in front of suspender-whore Larry King for the first time since she lost her sh*t over an unflattering beach pic. When King brought it up, the socially liberated model turned talk show host completely contradicted whatever she was trying to prove in the first place!
Thankfully, CNN posted a transcript up on their site:

King: The last time you were on you were dealing with the "F" word, meaning fat. You were fighting back. There [was] a nonflattering tabloid photo of you -- remember? In the swimsuit?

Banks: Yes.

King: You lost weight since then.

Banks: Yes.

King: Do you still feel an image pressure? Do you think -- you think like a fat person?

Banks: I don't actually. You know...When I told the world to kiss my fat ass, I remained that size for two years. I maintained it with my ice cream and my salad with ranch and dressing and croutons and bacon bits. Like I -- I didn't look at myself even on television and think that I was too big or -- I don't know. I didn't -- it didn't connect. But since then I have lost a lot of weight"
I couldn't help but be drawn to a particular part of the interview, when King sparked a conversation about Banks' natural hair:

King: All right. You kicked off season five of your talk show by revealing your real hair.

Banks: Let's talk about my hair right now. I know it's been a big mystery. And I was like it was an unsolved mystery, and I felt like I needed to solve this mystery. Like I've worn weaves and wigs and pieces and clip-ons and clip-outs and clip-downs and around since I was 17, 18, and I wanted to show the real me. I wanted to show the raw me, and I just got out of the shower -- beat the face first of course, you all -- and then came out of here -- on this stage, and this is me, you all. This is me.

King: How did that feel?

Banks: Oh my God, it felt so liberating. It felt so liberating. I have worn fake hair since I was 17 years old.

King: This -- is this real?

Banks: Yes. This is me. You want to feel my scalp?

King: Yes.

Banks: Yes? It's a little kinky in the scalp. That's like real black girl hair. But -- go -- go in there. Yes. That's -- yes. It's kinky. Exactly. My natural hair texture is very kinky. You felt my real hair texture. This is straightened. This part is straightened. This part is not, inside. But, I mean, hair for black women, we spend $9 billion a year on hair products -- black women do. So growing up as a young girl and seeing images in the media where they're saying that a certain type of hair is beautiful and yours isn't is very difficult for a black woman -- for black women and it's a -- it's a long, political thing that we can do a whole show about. But I felt it was my responsibility to show as much of my real hair as possible.

As much of your real hair as possible? I'm stuck here thinking of a reason why Tyra wasn't physically capable of showing her real hair in its entirety. Not to mention, if you check out the clip from America's Next Top Model (which is mentioned in the clip posted above), you can see that Tyra didn't even show her "real hair"! Instead she used the "just got out of the shower" line, as if she had a shot at pulling off the greasy, gelled back style used in perfume ads internationally. AND THEN she has the nerve to go on Larry King Live and say that her hair was real. Then not. But the roots are real. But the front is not. Oh, and that she's lost weight since preaching about body image and embracing inner beauty.
Tyra is such an inspiration.

Pink Funhouse Tour makes Britney look like a clown

It seems like all pop music celebrities these days are using a circus theme as inspiration for their tours. Christina did it first, shortly followed by Britney - who was much more successful thanks to the help of a strong marketing team over at Jive. Now, we have even more celebs jumping out of the circus clown car, including the spunky pop diva with harder abs and smaller tits than both previously mentioned acts - the one and only Pink.

Her VMA performance was incredible to say the least, and showcased an ability that no other pop star can compare to right now. And to think, this whole time Pink has been MIA in the music scene, she has most likely been attending classes at her nearest circus school. The difference between Britney and Christina's acts to Pink's phenomenon:

Frightening Fashion Faux-Pas: Early Botox

We have all seen images of how excessive surgery for the stars has gone wrong.. but leave it to a tween to take the cake for an anti-collagen ad. Poor little Amanda Bynes, whose career - and now looks - have hit rock bottom.

Let's face it - her dorky face, I mean, demeanor gets old after playing the same character in at least three different movies. Plus, I hardly buy her Family Channel physical humour.

You can't inject talent, Amanda!!

U2 makes fans happy - and people hungry

Alternative rockers U2 will perform tonight at the Rogers Centre in Toronto for their 360 tour. Bono will come equipped with his sunglasses I'm sure, along with an over the top performance to an unbelievably committed fan base.

The only reason why I would even want to go to the show, is to see the multi-million dollar "claw" stage that everyone has been talking about. To make U2 even more of a big deal then most people make them out to be, the Rogers Centre has agreed to open the dome for the second time in history! The first was for a Bruce Springsteen show - go figure.

The Rogers Centre homepage explains the dome opening as: "it's as if the stage were a spaceship about to take off after the show".

Maybe the spaceship could fly over to Africa. That way, Bono can donate the goliath of mechanisms to the STARVING CHILDREN THAT HE ONCE CARED ABOUT.

In other Torontonian news - the Leafs play their first pre-season game tonight with the brand spankin new team, against the Boston Bruins. GO LEAFS GO!!

Historic Eye-Candy Dies at 57

Beloved actor Patrick Swayze died today after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Not only was he the only man who could pull off a mullet, but he was quite the Hollywood heart-throb. Swayze thrusted his groin and danced his way into our hearts in Dirty Dancing - he set the standard for my kind of man as Johnny Castle. And can we PLEAAASE remember the movie Ghost.. How badly did you want to be playing with clay next to that dreamboat? Demi Moore is a lucky woman.

Rest in Peace Swayze

really Kanye?

Kanye West made an unforgettable performance at the VMAs this year, but like all of the gossip that puts him in the news - it has nothing to do with his music. By now the buzzworthy status of the story has completely died down, but that won't stop me from getting my two cents in!!

To tell you the truth, I'm not too interested in what Kanye had to say. What I really want to know is how Beyonce felt about what went down. By the looks of it, she doesn't seem too upset about Kanye's antics. In fact, she smiled about it!! I guess we can jump to the conclusion that the Roc-A-Fella family sticks together. Although I would like to point out that Beyonce saved the day when she let Swift come back on stage later and "have her moment".

As far as an apology goes, West gave sincerity his best shot and released one via blog post on his website - which by the way was taken down the same day it was posted!
Luckily I found this screenshot flying around the web of the original post that West made:
Today his blog reads :
"I feel like Ben Stiller in "Meet the Parents" when he messed up everything and Robert De Niro asked him to leave... That was Taylor's moment and I had no right in any way to take it from her. I am truly sorry. "
But really, I do feel bad for poor Taylor Swift, whose thunder was completely stolen by Kanye. At least she has other things to brag about... like dating a Jonas brother. I'm way more envious about that then the fact that she won a VMA! Right?

Still hungry? If you missed the show, or just want to see the drama again I've posted the clip below.. thanks MTV!!

REMEMBER WHEN...

Coldplay is living la vida loca

Radiohead's distant foreign cousin - Coldplay, played to a packed stadium last night in Toronto. The tour is in support of the band's new album 'Viva La Vida'. Actually, at first I mistook them for The Killers with their scarfs and fashionably patchy, modified army blazers. At one point Chris Martin even poked fun at himself, comparing his hairstyle to Justin Timberlake in the *NSync years.
The band's classical training and love for performance made it an exciting and interactive show. They embraced experimentation with a variety of instruments and new takes on old songs. Will Champion used a number of different drums throughout the show, including a performance pad and bongos. He also sings backup vocals and rocks the guitar from now and then. Lead guitarist Jon Buckland seems to be loving the telecaster; which is pretty popular among indie/rock bands nowadays. And of course, Chris Martin being the dreamboat that he is, played both the piano and harmonica. The concert was very theatrical and visually stimulating. Butterfly shaped confetti circled the stadium and giant yellow balloons hovered the crowd, bouncing off of outstretched arms. Even their live video feed was impressive. The screens were constantly changing colours and hues, and the images came out choppy, short and frequent. I especially liked when there was an old TV beside Martin's keyboard, playing live footage of the concert. The cameras would sometimes do a close shot on the TV and it would make some really cool effects that complemented the 80s feel that the band experimented with for the show. At one point they even relocated, moving to a stage further into the crowd, toward the back of the audience. This acoustic segment of the show highlighted what everybody is doing now - an MJ tribute. And what kind of band would Coldplay be if they didn't, right?
Martin and Champion let loose on vocals while the crowd sang along to their acoustic rendition of 'Billie Jean'. Last night was Champion's birthday, so during in between encore songs the band arranged for a cake to be brought on stage. Over 20,000 people sang 'Happy Birthday' to the drummer before their closing act.

It was phenomenal!!

Michael's long lost son(gs)

Looks like another case of being worth more dead than alive. Since his death on June 25th, MJ has been the talk of the town - how he died, who gets custody of the children, the reason behind his death, court charges, debts owed, etc. etc. NOW, we've got another Tupac on our hands. I heard on the radio this morning a "long lost Jackson song from the early seventies" - I'm sure we can expect a new CD.

Not only are his song's long lost, but apparently so is his first "secret" son Omar Bhatti. The Norwegian rapper known as Obee is claiming to be a secret love child. Supposedly he was conceived the night of a one-night stand that Jackson had with a fan in the eighties - who is also being claimed as Blanket's mother. Apparently Bhatti sat right next to the Jackson family at the memorial service. "Obee" now wants a DNA test to see if the King of Pop is his pappa.

But wait a minute! There's more! I found an article on The Smoking Gun - which has tons of information on all of MJ's court cases. This is from the article that I found on one of his sexual assault cases:

The grand jury transcript, which TSG exclusively obtained earlier this month, also reveals that sheriff's detectives interviewed a young friend of Jackson's during the November 2003 raid of his California estate. The performer befriended the teenager, Omer Bhatti, in 1996 during a Tunisian stop on the singer's HIStory tour (the child, then a 12-year-old Jackson imitator, was apparently spotted in front of Jackson's hotel).

HE'S A PHONY! ..or is he?

Alice: post-puberty years

By now you should know about Tim Burton's remake of Alice in Wonderland. Well, I guess you could say it's more of a sequel. IMDB tells us: "The traditional tale has been freshened with a blast of girl power, courtesy of writer Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast). Alice, 17, attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. Off she runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, a place she visited 10 years before yet doesn't remember."

According to the movie's official website: "19-year-old Alice returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, reuniting with her childhood friends". I am especially excited to see Burton's gothic take on the classic story. His art direction is always amazing; not to mention this film is going to be in 3D. I know, right? The release date is March 5, 2010, but you can get a sneak peak by watching the trailer on the fim's website.

Frightening Fashion Faux Pas: Jon Gosselin

Okay I'm sorry - but wearing designer sunglasses, a tattoo-inspired graphic tee and converse [probably high top] shoes does NOT make you 20-something again!! Come on Jon, I know you're all single and paparazzi-hot right now, but you only come off as completely ridiculous. I think it's hilarious that he's going for an edgier, more trendy look - bringing out gang signs and everything. Listen dude, stop trying so hard.. and stop hanging out with college girls! It's not like you can hide the fact that you have eight kids to deal with away from the bars. But in all seriousness, Kate's a bitch.

tweeting is SO HOT RIGHT NOW

For those of you who still haven't jumped on the tweeting wagon.. hurry up fast. Twitter has become one of the most popular social networking sites faster than any other website that has already been done (like the Myspace's, the Facebook's and even the Face the Jury's). Everyone is doing it. All the celebrities, CEOs and prepubescent teens are doing it.

Today I went to sign into Twitter and ended up being sent to the waiting room. To think that the website had too many people on at once to handle. I've seen these sites down for maintenance before but never because of high bandwidth. But doesn't it just make you wanna jump on that bandwidth bandwagon?
Besides, consider saving yourself now before the next generation starts calling you old for being alive when texting came out.

EXTRA! EXTRA! Michael Jackson Memorial Tour

Okay, so the memorial service is not going on tour - but if it did, I'm sure tickets would be sold out everywhere. All morning I have been glued to the nearest television screens to watch MJ's memorial. Not only was it a star-studded tribute, but a heartfelt and emotional ceremony. As much of a spectacle as it was, you can only imagine that Michael wouldn't have wanted it any different. To tell you the truth, I'm sure he would have made it even more outrageous if he had the chance.

The most interesting part about the broadcast was the fact that Michael's kids were being shown to the public for the first time. There are only a few images of the children that have been released to the public, so up until today no one has really gotten a sense of who they are. When Paris said the closing words of the ceremony I completely broke down and lost it - full on waterworks people. I can't wait until those kids grow up, not only to see what they become but to hear what they have to say about daddy'o.

Back to the memorial - I absolutely loved Magic Johnson reminiscing about the superstar and him eating a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken. While Stevie Wonder killed it, I expected a little more from my homegirl Mariah. However, I did enjoy John Mayer, who made the right decision by having his guitar on vocals. The only thing that threw me off was Brooke Shields. I had no idea that they were so close - but let's face it, she is just as crazy as he was so I can totally believe it.

Lastly,
Where the eff were Britney and Justin?

Rock the Bells 2009

Yesterday I ventured down to the Toronto harborfront to see a little music festival called Rock the Bells. Hip Hop superstars graced the Amphitheatre stage with sunny rays all day and a full moon at night. The lineup was incredible, even though some big headliners never made it to the Toronto show (The Roots, Busta Rhymes and Common were scheduled to play but cancelled, and Cypress Hill is only playing in the states!!).

Tech N9ne put on an incredibly entertaining show - not to mention they rap almost as fast as Twista which is always fun to listen to. Slaughterhouse (which consists of Joe Budden, Royce Da 5′ 9″, Joell Ortiz and Crooked I) came on a bit strong, but won me over when Joe Budden took it back and played "Pump it Up". RZA and GZA played an ODB song in tribute to him; while Mos Def, Talib Kweli and Nas all made shoutouts to the late Michael Jackson.

Somehow I managed to spot a security guard handing out wristbands for the floor, right before Nas and Damian Marley were playing. They played an amazing show incorporating stuff from their new album Distant Relatives (release date still unannounced) and some of their own stuff - you know, the crowd pleasers. While we were on the floor I managed to get a few great videos of their performance. I especially like the video I took of Damian singing his version of daddy's "One Love". Check it out below:

The official set times for yesterday's show:

THE KNUX 2:00 - 2:20 PM
SLUM VILLAGE 2:30 - 3:00 PM
M.O.P 3:10 - 3:40 PM
SLAUGHTERHOUSE 3:50 - 4:20 PM
TECH N9NE 4:30 - 5:00 PM
KNAAN 5:15 - 5:45 PM
REFLECTION ETERNAL 5:55 - 6:25 PM
RZA 6:35 - 7:05 PM
EPMD 7:15 - 7:45 PM
BIG BOI 7:55 - 8:25 PM
MOS DEF 8:40 - 9:25 pm
NAS & DAMIAN MARLEY 9:45 - 11:00 PM

Tragic End to a Long Decline

Moments ago I stepped into my friends car to hear the still unconfirmed news that Michael Jackson had died. Now, ten minutes later, I find myself online searching through hundreds of blogs and credible news sources that have already posted something about his death. As if the news of Farrah Fawcett's passing wasn't enough, this is going to be talked about by water coolers around the world for weeks. Let me just say now what everyone is thinking:

Wow.

First of all, I can't believe he was 50. That man's nose didn't look a day over 30. Second of all, I can't believe that he is actually dead. This is the king of pop we're talking about - the man who changed races before our very eyes, the man who hung a baby over a balcony in Germany, for heaven's sake - this is the man who sings the Free Willy theme song!!! The list of Jackson's accomplishments is probably longer than the bible. Millions of people around the world view him as a musical icon - because he is one. I can honestly say that he is one of the most talented and loved people in the world. In fact, I'm pretty sure he's more popular than the Pope. Just saying.

TMZ.com was first to break the news of Jackson going to the hospital for cardiac arrest, just after 4pm today. It has now been confirmed that he was not breathing when paramedics arrived at his home in Los Angeles. Since then they have been posting online like crazy with new findings. Jackson was just about to begin his series of comeback concerts in London - the 50 shows scheduled sold out in minutes last March. I am especially excited to see how this will be covered in the media over the next few weeks. I'm sure we can expect a celebrity tribute, maybe through a song or an album. Next thing we know, Jack White is playing him in a feature film.. but seriously - uncanny resemblance, no?

All jokes aside, Michael Jackson has left quite the impressive legacy. His style and work have inspired a number of artists and genres popular today. Not only is he incredibly talented, but he is one of the most successful artists of our time. I grew up listening to Michael Jackson and will always be reminded of my childhood when I hear any song of his. He will always be remembered through his music and the legacy that he has left behind.
RIP MJ, you will be missed.

Stevie Nicks, Janis Joplin and... Grace Potter

What I loved most about Bonnaroo was that there was always music playing on each of the seven stages throughout the day. With a lineup so incredible, it was hard figuring out where to spend my time - especially because so many great bands were playing at the same time. I was lucky enough to have wandered away from the people I was with and experience the festival all on my own.

I got the chance to do my own thing; went to the front of the crowd for headliners like Portugal. The Man, Gomez and Galactic [which was awesome] and even took a nap during Animal Collective. While I was wandering around to some of the smaller tents, one band in particular caught my attention. I was buying a bottle of Sprite when I heard music that I can only explain as... hella groovy and full of funk. I almost thought some band had pulled out Stevie Nicks as a guest appearance - so I moved closer.

I ended up staying at that tent for just over an hour. Grace Potter and The Nocturnals absolutely rocked the stage. I am so happy to see a band that is bringing back that sixties and seventies inspired sound that I love so much!!

Take That PCD!!

If you haven't heard yet - girl groups are the new black. They are popping up all over the place, and sadly enough all look the same. I would like to thank the Spice Girls and the Pussycat Dolls for setting the girl group standard.

Recipe for a successful girl group:

1. ethnic diversity
2. at least 5 members
3. at least one with short hair, and one with super long
4. one or more members must have an accent
5. a dominant singer with blonde hair and one with brown
6. one member who does the speaking part/rap break
7. a first single with a credible rap artist(s)

This girl group is called Paradiso Girls. Not only do they fit the mold, but they also have a particular attribute that makes their girl group completely buzzworthy - one of the members is a fallen pussycat-wannabe. That's right! Chelsea Korke from "The Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll" has finally found a group that accepts her lovely voice and lack of rhythm!! Chelsea was eliminated during the season finale for Asia - who obviously didn't get very far with the group. Well, at least Chelsea will get some airplay - she can thank Eve and Lil Jon for that.

Back from Bonnaroo

Can I just say that I have never had so much fun in Tennessee before?! Okay, so I've never even been to Tennessee before; but either way, I had the most incredible time at Bonnaroo 2009!! The atmosphere and the people were so interesting and friendly - and the lineup was absolutely unbelievable!! Some of my favorite festival moments are: Seeing Portugal. The Man start Friday morning off with an acoustic set, Beastie Boys bringing out special guest Nas, Snoop Dogg and Erica Badu playing some old school tracks, The Decemberists and Karen from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs sing Crazy On You, NIN playing their last North American tour and playing alongside Dillinger Escape Plan, the incredible 4+ hour sets that Phish played on both Friday AND Sunday - and even bringing Bruce Springsteen out for a few songs!!

Honestly, the list of highlights can go on and on. If I were to suggest anything to a music lover - it would be to go to a music festival at least once in your life. Even though Bonnaroo has come and gone there are plenty more festivals to look forward to this summer!! Some that I am particularly interested in include: Rothbury, Cutting Edge, and Lollapalooza.

A bunch of websites are starting to post live recordings from the festival.
You can download a bunch from HERE

Brit's kids are better dancers than her

That's a video of Britney Spears' two boys dancing backstage at her show in London on the 4th.
How cute is that?
They are totally using Brit's moves!!

Wrong Clip.. Clipse!!!

Old music videos from the 90s and 2000s are awesome. When I came across this gem I couldn't believe that I didn't notice this before. I found a fault in the music video for Clipse's "When the Last Time"!! Watch the clip at 1:05 - the girl that Pharrell is singing to messes up the words when singing them. WRONG CLIP CLIPSE! This is probably going to be my new habit.

Happy Sgt. Pepper's Day!!

Today marks the 42nd anniversary of the iconic Beatles album, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. This album is known for the band's transition into a studio-based band. They experimented with a number of random instruments on the album; and integrated Indian culture into their sound with the use of a sitar - thank you George Harrison. Remember the "Paul is dead" hoax? The back cover of the album not only is the first to sport Beatles lyrics, but also has Paul with his back to the camera - which definitely fueled the dead McCartney fire. In 2003, Rolling Stone Magazine named this album the greatest of all time; even the packaging is Grammy Award-winning.

Fixing a Hole, Day in the Life, When I'm Sixty-Four, For the Benefit of Mr. Kite - the list of hits off this album go on and on. So happy Sgt. Pepper's Day!! Easy listening lovechilds!!

I read an article today from cbc.ca that compared two of pop music's celebrity alter egos - the legendary rock star alien Ziggy Stardust (by quirky David Bowie) and the wholesome Hannah Montanna (played by real-life "singer", Miley Cyrus).

Plenty of stars have tried Bowie's 37 year old strategy, and most have failed miserably. May I remind you of Mariah Carey's empancipation of Mimi, or when Christina Aguilera went dirrty as Xtina, and the Shady side of Eminem. I really like the whole alter ego thing to tell you the truth. It gives an artist dimension - and in pop music you need something eccentric to make good entertainment. Stage performance is everything.. and what better than an alter ego to bring that out in a star? LOVE IT.

Thank you CBC for the picture!

Creepy MJ Portrait

Apparently, Jackson named his Neverland Valley Ranch after the fantasy land in J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan. Over the years, Jackson added such outrageous amenities like an amusement park, an arcade room and a zoo! Thank you CBC News for this hilarious oil on canvas portrait of MJ as a prince. Word is that MJ plans to do a a couple of concerts around London in July. He says it's his last in the British capital everrrr.

Later Leno

Last night was Jay Leno's last episode as the host of The Tonight Show. There have only ever been four hosts, and Leno has been host for the last 17 years. Conan O'Brien will take over the show starting Monday. But don't worry! Leno is staying on air! He will be back in September with a show airing five nights a week at 10pm on NBC.

Billy Crystal was Leno's first guest, who sang a song for the occasion back in 1992. Last night Crystal prepared a hilarious and theatrical song for Jay before he left the Tonight Show stage. Check it out:

More GaGa.. because she's so hot right now

Rich Girls Always Win

In the 600th issue of Archie Comics, Archie Andrews finally picks his lady after almost 70 years of debate. On May 15th, the comic's website announced that Archie would be getting engaged. Word got out today via New York Post that he chooses Veronica in the issue titled "The Proposal: Part 1 of 6".

The Archie gals posted about the engagement via blogs on the comic's website. On Wednesday Veronica wrote on her blog:

"I am so excited, I am getting Married to Archie. There is so much to do, so many plans to make. I wonder if Betty wants to be my Maid of Honor? I bet she is so happy for me!(((Hugs))) Ronnie"

In reponse, Betty's blog, titled "The saddest girl in the world" simply states:
"I am so sad, I don't even know what to say. Xoxoxoxo Bets"
To tell you the truth, I'm not really in shock. Archie constantly ditched Betty for Ron; her evil ways always won him over. And let's not forget about Cheryl Blossom. When the "Love Showdown" issue came out - which by the way I still am mad about never reading - I totally called that she was going to be the obvious opt-out.

Remember that the cover can be deceiving, it's only the first of six issues and anything can happen! What I think would work is a storyline between one of the girls and Jughead. How much more interesting would that be? Just saying.

If you're still hungry.. from msnbc.com:

"In the story, Archie has finally graduated from Riverdale High School; in fact, he’s five years older and a college graduate. He may even have — gasp! — an actual job when he gets engaged."

Weird.

Hulk Hogan - I mean Brooke - releases an album

Not that I'm looking forward to it - but I kind of want a copy just so I can have a tangible version of this album cover. She looks like an acid-induced, tanned human pegasus. Her album is called The Redemption but I'm not sure if she can redeem herself from this one.

Ga-Gag Stones Cover

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse - Lady Ga-Ga poses as Dee Snider for Rolling Stone Magazine. But honestly, is the resemblance not unbelievably apparent? In her interview with the mag she spoke about becoming famous and being bisexual:
"Lady Gaga's devotion to being a star drove her to order bags of cocaine and
spend hours perfecting her hair and makeup in a tiny Lower East Side
apartment after she dropped out of NYU several years ago -- well before she
was actually famous. 'It was quite sick,' she admits. 'I suppose that's
where the vanity of the album came from.' She tells Hiatt she's bisexual, but her attraction to women is purely physical. It's an aspect of her sexuality that makes boyfriends 'uncomfortable,' she says."
As if a nose job wasn't good enough, now she is going Loco-Lohan and pulling out the bisexual card.
This broad is using every trick in the book!! She is totally going to shave her head next.

This 7th Heaven star doesn't have the voice of an angel

So apparently someone was silly enough to give Jessica Biel a chance at singing for her new movie Easy Virtue. I really wonder how embarrassed JT must be at this point. And to think - she was just cast for a production of the musical Guys and Dolls. Hell, maybe Lady Ga-Ga will land a role too.

Lady Ga-Gag

I despise anyone who thinks that Lady Ga-Ga is actually comparable to Madonna. First of all, Madge is a goddess. Secondly, Lady Long Legs doesn't come close to measuring up to Madonna's talent. What's going on here? Throw on a nylon bodysuit and wear creepy glasses and suddenly you're the new queen of pop?! The ONLY person that I would agree with coming close to Madonna would be the one and only Britney Spears. Sorry Ga-Gag but you don't hold up in my books. And besides, wtf is with that silly hand gesture in all her pap pictures? Weeeeeiiirrddooo. Looovvvee iiiit.

Bogus Blink? I'm on the fence

Blink is back and I have been waiting for a performance to finally post about! A friend's blog inspired me to write this after she posted a clip of their performance on the Tonight Show. This is Jay Leno's last week on the show; he will be stepping down to Conan O'Brien on June 1st. For the rest of the week, Leno is having a number of great guest appearances.

Blink 182 performed on the show last night. Check out their performances below.

I would have to agree with my friend when she says that Tom DeLonge is a bit disappointing in the first clip of All the Small Things. His voice has matured, and he seems to have picked up a different style from his alternative band Angels & Airwaves. Either way, I think that Tom rocked the riffs we sang in middle school - not to mention Travis and Mark were off the wall.

Verdict: Blink is back and sure they sound a bit different; but they are still playing our favorites which is exactly what we want from them. Therefore, I think Blink is bitchin'.

Now reunited after 5 long years, the boys kick of a national tour starting on September 16th in San Diego.

A new American Idol will be announced when the final elimination results air on Fox tonight. Either Adam Lambert or Kris Allen will win this year's competition making them the 8th idol - 9 if you give Clay Aiken the benefit of the doubt. The 2-hour finale will also have performances by Carrie Underwood, David Cook, the Black Eyed Peas, Queen Latifah, Keith Urban, Lionel Richie, Carlos Santana, and Cyndi Lauper. There have been rumours about Britney Spears performing as well, but nothing announced has been official. I'm still impressed that they got No Doubt on there!! Gwen totally dressed up like the Tragic Kingdom days too!!

CEMF Lineup Announced!!

WOW. This lineup is quite possibly one of the best I have seen in a while! First off all, the handful of bands that are performing is unbelievable. I am especially excited to see The Roots, iLL, Protest the Hero, Rebel Emergency, who I just saw at the Toronto Freedom Festival , and Keepin' 6 during the day. But come night time, ooooh the Smirnoff Dance Warehouse looks insane!!

I have seen MixMaster Mike and Andy C a few times now, but I still can't wait to watch them spin again. I am especially excited for Andy because I was [unbelievably] sleeping through half of his set at WEMF last year. A little birdie told me last year Marcus Visionary played some amazing DNB, and I've heard nothing but good things about Thunderheist too. I am so excited for this!! Now I have at least four music festivals under my belt this summer!!

Frightening Fashion Faux-Pas: TREY TACKLING TRENDS

I happened to stumbled upon this picture of Trey Philips from Laguna Beach. We all remember Trey for his wacky eccentric trucker hats that the Laguna gang would model at his fashion shows. Trucker hats are soo early 2000s its crazy.. and we can thank Ashton Kutcher for that. Pretty much I find this picture funny for two reasons:
  1. He's still wearing the trucker hat and collared shirt combo - collar popped
  2. He is actually trying to pull off a belt as a super trendy sash

So I decided to check up on Trey the trucker hat activist only to find a MySpace site dedicated to his political group Active Young America. Hey - he's still popular enough to get his picture taken, right? You don't see a post about Talan on my blog, do you? - Mind you, I'm pretty sure he is still dating Nicole Scherzinger from PCD; which says a lot more than Trey's post-Laguna buzzworthiness!
